Rustic coffee table made from sawmill slabs

Previous posts described the sawmill slabbing attachment in detail.

Here we have a rustic coffee table design made entirely from slabs cut with the sawmill last summer.  After rough cutting with the chain saw, the curves in the base pieces were re-sawed on the band saw in the wood shop.   The top was a full slab cut from the crotch of a branch in a very old fallen red oak tree – one planted by my grandfather back in the 1930’s. Without realizing it, I started whistling the “Flintstones” theme song while I was putting the finishing touches on the table this afternoon.   Since it looks like something Fred would have in his living room, I’m going to call this model the “Flintstone” coffee table.
