Bosque Afternoon

The “Bosque”, which means forest in Spanish, is a riparian zone that runs pretty much the length of the Rio Grande river as it snakes it’s way through New Mexico.  I spent the  afternoon in the Bosque near my house taking some pictures and walking with the dog.  Winter is always a joy with the Sandhill Cranes around and the late afternoon sun made for some great light. The background of the first picture in the last row shows the Bosque and it’s magnificent old growth cottonwoods – some of which reach diameters of 10 feet or more.
