The garden is starting to bear fruit. Zuchhini and yellow squash have been producing well for the past two weeks. Tomatoes are about to start turning pink. We are about to be covered up in them! Basil is making enough leaves to harvest some and unless we have a crop failure, we’ll have a full day of pesto making in about 2 weeks – June 2nd. If you are in the area, come on by with some of your favorite olive oil, paremesean cheese and some containers and you’ll leave with a pile of pecan pesto! We had an incredible pecan harvest this year so we have plenty of those.
Below you see one of the joys of growing your own food. This typical summertime meal makes all of the work seem worth it. Cheers!
The garden 5 rows above contain (from left) tomatoes, squash & zucchini, basil, various peppers and cherry tomatoes and lettuce. We have another 1/2 acre planted in white corn, beans and peas.
