Washington State Revisited

It had been over 7 years since I’d been back to Washington State.  Having spent 18 years living there,  it’s my second home and one I often miss very much.  Recently, I found myself working nearby and decided to pop in for a visit.

Some friends took me hiking at Silver Peak in the Washington Cascade mountains. It’s a 4 or 5 mile hike that starts on the Pacific Crest trail at Snoqualmie summit.  That Saturday started as a rainy, gloomy, windy day – typical of October in the Pacific Northwest.  In this part of the world, you can’t let the weather keep you from doing what you want to do. So, we drove up to Snoqualmie pass & hit the trail with a bit of drizzle and a cold wind in our faces.  As it sometimes does, the weather gradually improved and I got these shots late in the afternoon as we were returning from the summit.  Stunning.
