This 13″ x 28″ solid red oak cutting board received a couple of coats of non-toxic mineral oil and a wax treatment (not what you are thinking although a shot of mineral oil and a wax never hurt anybody) and was installed in the customers kitchen. Clear rubber feet keep the board firmly positioned on the counter top and bronze finished cabinet handles at each end make it easy to move to another area for serving guests – that is if you can lift it! This massive piece weighs in at almost 20 pounds. All of the wood used to make these boards comes off of the Lucas Portable Sawmill. It is very satisfying to have a hand in each step in the process of transforming wood from a beautiful salvaged oak tree into a finished piece in the home.
